The Ruin of Arnor

This was done after reading this months White Dwarf magazine. This has to be the most effort I've put into a picture so far this month. As you can see the Soldier is missing his spear, as it wouldn't fit on the page, so this was created as a separate element and added in the final picture. I think the grass came out well, but it did obscure his feet.

I'd love to know what you think, so please leave a comment if you have the time.

:p

The Blue Letter

This was done as todays warm up picture. Taken from the intro to Haunted Liverpool 13. It's about the urban legend of a blue letter sent from the Devil, if you read it, you die! A bit like opening a credit card bill in January then ?...no, o.k I'll shut up.
I've left space for a logo and didn't want to put too many special effects on it. Just something to get me in the mood for the next installation.

Wipe Them out!

We were talking today, in work, about how I haven't done a version of Darth Maul. In the new digital painted style, at least. One of the first pics I put on the blog was of the Sith Lord himself. It was under the title My Sundown, this was from the Jimmy Eat World song which has the line:

"I could be so much more than this".

So with this in mind, here is a study for a new version, it might not get the full colour finish but it's a step in the right direction. And if I get the Sideshow version of the 12 inch figure this weekend to use as a model, I should be able to put it in a familiar pose to use as a reference.

For Mark (Mr Risk) and Nick (Captain Random) :)

Slow,Slow,Quick..No Slow!

Hi Gang,

Thanks for clicking on again. Tonight the computer has been on a go slow for some reason. This is the guy that was going to be added to the picture below but never made it. As you can see it's been done in the same way as the previous colour pic's which I am really enjoying doing at the mo. I should get some blue pencil stuff posted over the weekend as I've been doing loads of Resident Evil stuff which should look cool once it gets inked and coloured, so keep checking.

If there is stuff you like or don't, then let me know, it's great to here from you and your comments will steer me in the right direction.

Enough gabbing :p

Drowning Out

Ahoy-hoy!

For some reason, the wanting to draw something, appears to fading at the moment. It must be something to do with the moon? Anyhoo... this pic was done today and has a completely painted sea and sky. I think I'm getting better at the painted look, what do you think? It did originally have a man in the foreground, but it was ditched at the last minute. But, as its done in photoshop, he'll pop up somewhere else soon.

Somewhere In Between

Hi gang!

My head is stuck in military mode. In which I mean all I want to draw, is manga style soldiers, with kick ass weapons and the like. So I forced myself to do this. Still getting to grips with the painted look, so I should be posting more stuff in full colour soon.

See You Bye:)

Zombie Nation

Zombie's. I've added a bit more gore than normal, so you can see inside em! Eewww! The dude on the right looks like Chris Moyles... that wasn't what I was thinking when I drew it honest. I'm looking forward to the remake of the Day of the Dead movie, out sometime this year. And 28 Weeks Later. They gave us Zombie's that run, what next???

Cheery bye :)

The Sweetness

No, the Sweetness will not be concerned with me.

This was done using the speed painting method of colouring and done as an experiment, other elements will be added later but for now I thought I'd put it on the blog for a bit of a change of pace. I like the way the hair came out and the clouds... it's also cool that it was coloured in a little under 10 minutes!

Be Back Soon :)

Risk!

Some more basketball gubbins... this time with colour. I've started to use a new way of colouring, still using Photoshop, but trying to get that marker effect that concept artists use. At great expense I got one of the Gnomon Workshops DVD's, the one on speed painting. So expect lots more colour pics as there is no excuse now. The "Sketchy" tag was drawn by my Brutha from anutha Mutha: Mark Hannah. Cheers buddy!

I'll get a mop! :)

Iron Brew

I found an Ironman image I'd done for a Sketchbook that I was planning to publish in 2006, that project kinda fell flat, but here it is now. I've also added some versions of Tony Stark which I did last night in pencil. Even though we all know Robert Downey Jnr is now playing the boozy tinman I'll always draw him like the comic version.

Later :)

Hammer Time ?

I found this image of the Cadian Imperial Guard I did a while ago ( well 2006).

Peace out :)

Cheating Get's It Faster!

Just got Haunted Liverpool 13, where does Tom keep getting the stories from? You should see a breakdown of the process I go through to get a final image. The only thing missing is the blue line sketch which got inked over, and the logo, the line work and colour elements are done separately so they can be edited in Photoshop later. There will be tons of this sort of stuff which is really nice to do because you have a lot of stories to choose from.

TTFN :)

Keep watch

Mandy got the book Nightwatch for Christmas off her bud Colin. And after reading most of it, I sat down and doodled these. The blue pencil is far better than the normal graphite ones and won't show up when you scan or photocopy. Stay tooned for more versions.

Cheery Bye :)

Character Study 2

More from the little black book of scribbles. They might get coloured soon?

Peace out :)

The Saga continues

I got a load of the Star Wars Saga figures from work, the new Endor Rebel troopers are really cool. So I thought I'd do a female version before Hasbro do an Expanded universe style version. Sideshow toys are doing a 12 inch version that looks just like me! Who would of thought that me and 12 inches would be in the same sentance?

022 Rules! :)

Character Study 1

As you may have noticed there are a lot of pic's put on tonight, not because I've been drawing all day, but because when a blog starts like this you wait and wait for just one image for days and then loads appear! Well the sketchbook is still full of loads of random images done around Christmas time.

Enjoy :)

The Dark Half

This is the love of my life, Mandy, Wearing a Witch's hat... long story. Lots of swear words and finger wagging.

Cheery Bye :)

Cover me!

This is a rough idea for a cover for a House of the Dead style story I've been thinking of. Not the crap film mind you, the video game, what was going on with that film anyway? there's an hour and a half of my life I won't get back! I think I saw the second film in a Virgin Megastore the other day.. it made run away faster than the first. Well back to the pic, I think having a female as one of the duo gave it a more X-files feel than what I was aiming for.

Anyhoo :)

Got Game?

Found some more of the basketball players and a cheerleader tucked away in the sketchbook. Thought I'd put them on to go with last nights duo.

Enjoy :)

Work and Play

My God! do I need an A3 scanner or what? This is the second lot of pictures and you must be thinking, can this dude draw feet? Well the answer is yes... honest. But scanning in two bits and trying to get them to match up is a pain and very time consuming. Maybe Ebay could help?

Well back to the images, these two dudes were drawn tonight, with a bit of luck they should get the full cell shaded colour treatment, and go with the ton of Newcastle Eagles players and cheerleaders I did a while back.

Cheery bye :)

My Sundown

Hi all, Welcome to my blog, I hope to try and get as much manga inspired artwork as possible on here for you to look at over the year. And with this in mind here are two images from the Star Wars universe. There was no reason for them being drawn other than me just wanting to draw something a bit different than what I normally do.

Hope you dig it. Cheery Bye :)
